A unique graduate programme, the Master of Science in Financial Engineering (MFE) empowers you to succeed as a dynamic professional in the world of high technology finance. u200bLearn from world class faculty and industry seasoned professionals how to implement solutions in areas such as risk management, product structuring, quantitative trading, quantitative research and financial information technology. Stay ahead of industry developments in this multi-disciplinary programme that is also offered in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, USA.
The 1-year programme is rigorous and intense, and is designed for those with a strong drive and focus to penetrate the top tiers of the finance industry. The curriculum emphasises teamwork and communication in real life corporate settings, seamlessly integrating current financial theory and computational methods with practical knowledge. You will get opportunities to learn from experts from a diversity of disciplines, spanning finance, computing and mathematics. Close interaction with both faculty and industry professionals will enable you to amalgamate real-life experience with academic research to enrich your understanding of today’s financial world.

The programme will equip you with concepts and techniques in Finance, Computer Science and Mathematics. You will learn how to apply sophisticated engineering tools to financial problems, utilising complex analytical and quantitative methods, enabling you to tackle challenging problems in high-technology finance.
Programme Structure
u200bu200bu200bu200bu200bYou will be required to complete:
(a) 20 core courses (which includes the seminar series FE8826 Seminar in Special Topics).
(b) 4 elective courses.
The curriculum will be taught over 3 trimesters (1 year). If you wish to undertake the programme on a part-time basis, you will require 6 trimesters (2 years).
Each trimester is divided into 2 mini terms of 7 weeks each, with two recesses, one in December-January, and another in April-May (Exact dates to be confirmed).
CMU Term
You will spend the first 5 mini terms in Nanyang Business School in Singapore and the final 7-week mini term (Mini Term 6) in Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in the US (subject to US visa approval if applicable).
Class Hours
All classes are held on campus at NTU. Each course will have a total of 21 hours of instruction. For each course, you will meet for 3½ hours per week for 6 weeks. Examinations will be held in the 7th week. To cater to working professionals taking the course, classes for full-time and part-time students are conducted in the evenings on weekdays and on selected Saturday mornings or afternoons.
Career
Graduates from the MFE programme work primarily in the financial services industry. Careers vary but usually revolve around risk management, quantitative asset management, product structuring, quantitative trading, quantitative research, financial information technology as well as other areas in high-technology finance. Employers include investment banks, commercial banks, financial consultants, financial and database software suppliers, financial regulators, treasury & finance departments of MNCs, exchanges and energy companies.

为来自中国的学生设计 An applicant must have completed at least a Bachelor Degree (Honors) or European/German FH Diploma or its equivalent in areas of Science/Electrical/Electronics Engineering from a university with recognized standing with at least a 2nd Class Honors or equivalent. As the Programme instruction medium is English, applicant must be able to demonstrate a satisfactory level of the language. Applicant whose native tongue or medium of instruction from previous studies (Bachelor / FH Diploma) is not English must submit at least one of the following: TOEFL score indicating a minimum of 600 for Paper based test or 100 for internet based test; IELTS: With academic IELTS result of at least 6.5.
