Students are required to complete a minimum of ★18 in coursework and a thesis.

Required coursework (★9)

NS 520 - Theoretical Perspectives in Native Studies NS 550 - Research Practicum in Native Studies One graduate-level methodology course

Elective courses (★9)

Three ★3 graduate-level courses A maximum of ★6 in coursework may be taken from outside the Faculty of Native Studies with consent of the Faculty.

Thesis

Registration in 900-level THES. Students must complete and successfully defend a thesis.

Language Requirement

Proficiency in a language other than English (including an Aboriginal language) is recommended in accordance with the thesis topic.

Length of Program

Full-time MA students will normally be expected to complete the program in two years.

The maximum time to complete the thesis-based MA program as set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is four years.

为来自中国的学生设计 The Faculty's minimum admission requirements for the master's thesis and course-based programs are a four year baccalaureate degree, or its academic equivalent, in physical education, kinesiology, recreation or another related degree, with a minimum admission grade point average of 3.0 on most 4.0 grading systems or B on most letter grading systems, based on the most recent two years of full time study (or equivalent).
