The Department of Oncology offers programs leading to the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. Applicants with the MSc degree, or a strong undergraduate record, may be accepted directly into the PhD program.

Students are required to complete a minimum of ★9 in coursework and a thesis.

Coursework:

One of ONCOL 520 - Tumor Biology or ONCOL 524 - Nutrition and Metabolism Related to Cancer

ONCOL 660 and ONCOL 661 Current Topics in Cancer Research

Required courses may be substituted, with the approval of the Associate Chair, Graduate Studies

One ★3 graduate level course from the list of approved courses. Contact the Department for course information.

Course requirements are recommended by the supervisor and supervisory committee based on the background of the student and the area of research to be undertaken.

Additional coursework may be required.

Thesis:

Registration in 900-level THES.

Seminars:

Students are required to attend all ONCOL 660/ONCOL 661 research seminars during all years of their program whether or not they are enrolled in the courses.

Ethics Requirement:

Students are required to meet the FGSR Academic Integrity and Ethics Training Requirement. See the Oncology Graduate Student Handbook for details on how to fulfill this requirement.

Length of Program:

The minimum length of program is two years, depending on the research undertaken.

The maximum time to complete the thesis-based MSc program as set by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is four years.

为来自中国的学生设计 The Faculty's minimum admission requirements for the master's thesis and course-based programs are a four year baccalaureate degree, or its academic equivalent, in physical education, kinesiology, recreation or another related degree, with a minimum admission grade point average of 3.0 on most 4.0 grading systems or B on most letter grading systems, based on the most recent two years of full time study (or equivalent).
