在这里学什么？ Partnered with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and home to innovative facilities and internationally-leading research, the University of Surrey offers distinctive physics programmes that are among the very best in the UK and which reflect the diversity and excitement of the subject.Quantum technologies harness the unusual features of the quantum world to perform tasks that are hard or impossible with conventional technologies. Our BSc Physics with Quantum Technologies **(with Foundation Year)** programme cover the full spectrum of this exciting and rapidly developing field – from lasers to quantum information to quantum computers.In the National Student Survey (NSS) 2018 our physics courses were ranked top 10 in the UK for overall satisfaction.On our course you will gain a solid understanding of all the core elements of traditional physics, as well as learning about the power of cutting-edge quantum technologies just at the time that they are moving from the drawing board to prototypes.You will also learn about existing quantum technologies which we take for granted in our everyday lives. These are devices used to transmit data through the internet, the LED lighting in your home, the solar panels on your roof and the lasers in your Blu-ray player. These are just a few examples of technologies whose development has been made possible through our understanding of quantum physics.You can switch between any of our specialist physics degrees during your first year.We’re always looking to make it easier to access the education we offer, so we have launched the option of taking a degree with a foundation year.A foundation year is an extra year of study at the start of your course that leads in to a full degree programme. It’s a great option if:• You don’t have the grades for a full degree course• You have non-traditional qualifications or experience• You’re starting university after some time away from education• You’re looking for more support during the transition into university study.During a foundation year you’ll learn about your chosen subject, develop your study skills and get used to university life. On successful completion of your foundation year, you’ll be ready to progress to the first year of your degree course.As a foundation year student, you’ll be a full student of the University and part of our community. You’ll have access to all our campus facilities and support.
