Early childhood and childhood education EdM programs are available for those who wish to pursue a bilingual specialization/extension. The programs are suitable for students who wish to obtain New York State certification to teach bilingual students birth through sixth grade, who already have initial teacher certification before entering the program, and who aspire to complete both a master's degree in bilingual education and childhood education, or early childhood certification requirements.

The features of our program include:

• laboratories, centers and research and evaluation projects that provide a rich variety of learning opportunities, including field experiences and projects in collaboration with local schools' bilingual and second language programs
• study of English language learners and bilingual education students
• study of foundation of bilingual, dual and second language education
• study of bilingualism and first and second language acquisition
• study of developmental readers, first and second language reading processes, and first and second language reading instruction at the pre-school and emergent level, elementary grades; literacy in first and second language; technology; language, literacy and culture; children's and young adult literature; and classroom reading and second language assessment

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have a bachelor's degree (or higher) or the equivalent from an accredited/government recognized college or university. Most such degrees will be four or more years in length; UB recognizes some three-year degrees, but not all; A B-grade (GPA of 3.0) or higher from your bachelor's degree (or equivalent) courses. Grade point averages from non-U.S. universities will be evaluated by UB's Office of International Admissions. English Language Requirements: The minimum score of TOEFL IBT is 79, the minimum score TOEFL PBT is 550, the minimum score of IELTS is 6.5, the minimum score of PTE is 55, the minimum score of Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE) 185, the minimum score of Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) 185.
