The School of Education offers an innovative program combining a secondary education major with a major in an additional subject. These additional subjects include: English, history, mathematics, political science, psychology, or a foreign language (French, Italian, Latin, or Spanish). Licensure for the sciences -biology, chemistry, or physics - is provided through our five-year bachelor's/master's programs.

Program benefits :

Earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSEd) and either a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree.
Finish this combined program for most subjects in four years, significantly faster than if they earned both degrees separately even if you study abroad for a semester.
Earn a certificate to teach worldwide through the International Baccalaureate Organization.
Gain extensive deep experiences engaging with diverse populations, including students with special needs and those labeled as English language learners (all graduates are eligible for ESL endorsement).

BSEd in Secondary Education

Loyola offers a BSEd in Secondary Education with grade 9-12 endorsements in English, history, math, political science, and psychology. Biology, chemistry, and physics majors earn their MEd Secondary Education endorsement through the 5-year program.
