 Physics is our strength
There has never been a more exciting time to enter the world of physics. There are new discoveries virtually every day, new theories and new inventions that make the universe a more awe-inspiring place.
There’s also never been a more exciting time to enter the world of physics at SFA. We offer students more hands-on learning experiences and access to state-of-the-art facilities, like our new Cole STEM Building. Get ready for the future here!
 The jobs of tomorrow, today
Students who study physics at SFA open themselves up to a world of possibilities. Many of our students have gone on to careers in:
Engineering Teaching Medicine The military Information technology
Many of our physics students choose to continue with their education and earn a master’s degree or a Ph.D., which can lead to rewarding careers in research and post-secondary education.
 More than just theory
At SFA, we like our students to get their hands dirty, metaphorically speaking. Our physics courses deliver more than powerful lectures from some of the most passionate professors you can find. As an undergrad, you’ll have the opportunity to work side-by-side with your professors and participate in real, relevant lab research. Live the dream, and get published before you even complete your undergraduate education.
Students also have access to our incredible array of labs and facilities, such as:
Quantum optics lab Low-temperature physics lab Thin film lab Observatory Radar signaling lab Gas dynamics lab Optical polarimetry lab Makerspaces and machine shop
