The Religious Studies major is designed to provide a liberal arts education with an emphasis on the critical study of religious phenomena. The Religious Studies major provides an excellent basis from which to pursue careers requiring imagination, problem-solving and communication skills, and awareness of human diversity.

Student Learning Outcomes

A Religious Studies major will be able to:

• Interpret texts and other cultural phenomena that have religious presuppositions or implications (such as rituals, texts, architecture) in their historical, social and political context.
• Think both empathetically and critically about conflicting religious claims.
• Acquire knowledge of the history of more than one major religious tradition.
• Apply intercultural methods to religious inquiry and analysis.
• Articulate a perception of one’s role in society, in both career and public-service options.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students will be considered for admission to CSUN if they meet the following requirements: Have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale, or an average of "B" grades on an "A - F" letter grading scale. An international first-time freshman is a student applying to a bachelor's degree program who has not completed any post-secondary course work at a college or university. English language requirements: IELTS Academic - International English Language Test System: 6.0 or higher; iTEP Academic - International Test of English Proficiency - 5.0 or higher; PTE Academic - Pearson’s Test of English - 45 or higher; TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language: Internet Based score: 61, Paper-based score: 500. We do not accept TOEFL ITP.
