The mission of the department is to offer curricula, services and research leading to proficiency in language, literature and culture that will enable individuals to function effectively in the international communities in our geographical area and throughout the world. The department’s programs serve and promote all academic divisions of the University in providing students the language and cultural training necessary to support international and intercultural endeavors.

Major Goals and Objectives

• Prepare students to participate in a wide variety of careers (legal, medical, diplomatic, business, teaching, administrative, translation) that require native or near-native abilities in oral and written skills.
• Provide students with techniques, methods, strategies and skills to carry out independent research that supports career choices.
• Establish a solid foundation for lifelong learning and community service in the Hispanic communities.
• Design, organize and successfully deliver advanced level seminars that demonstrate superior-level oral proficiency, as well as teaching methodologies.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students must have completed a post-secondary degree equal to a U.S. bachelor's degree. English language requirements: IELTS Academic - International English Language Test System: 6.5 or higher; PTE Academic - Pearson’s Test of English: 58 or higher; TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language: Internet Based score: 79, Paper-based score: 550. We do not accept TOEFL ITP.
