This programme is designed for students interested in computer networks but specialising in areas such as virtualisation and the computer systems used in data centre that support cloud based services. They would also be interested in databases and developing an understanding of managing and analysing big data, and implementing cloud services.
The overall aim of this programme is to develop students with the skills and knowledge to design, build and extend the internet infrastructure and to design a variety of distributed applications.
The course focuses on cost-effective and agile ways to build and operate business and commerce IT infrastructure. Employing more efficient ways of sharing information and collaborating can offer a real competitive advantage.
- The student will focus on acquiring and using the expertise required by a cloud systems developer to create solutions to large and complex problems.

This course is designed to:
- Enable students to be creative and innovative in the application of the concepts, principles and techniques associated cloud computing.
- Enable students to critically evaluate, analyse, design or implement complex systems
- Provide students with a systematic understanding of the comprehensive knowledge and skills needed to collect, interpret, analyse, synthesise and communicate data using appropriate methods.
- Provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate academic rigour appropriate to honours level through the use of analytical and technical skills.
Course Overview
Cloud Computing is a specialisation of computer networking that is concerned with the management of large data in data centres, virtualisation and the provision of cloud services.
Applicants would typically be technically minded and they may have previously studied engineering, computing or the sciences.
