With Suffolk's International Relations Major, you can gain the knowledge and skills you need to to influence your local, national, and global environment while studying in the heart of Boston—a truly international city.

International Relations majors learn and develop the skills to work in government agencies (from local government all the way to the Foreign Service), intergovernmental organizations (such as the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the World Bank), and non-governmental organizations and think-tanks (such as Amnesty International and OXFAM or the Brookings Institute).

You’ll study in small classes with professors who are experts in their field and have an active teaching and research agenda on relevant topics in world affairs. These include transatlantic relations and the European Union, regional security governance, global financial liberalization, the United Nations and international law, human rights and transitional justice, American foreign policy, the Politics of China and North Korea, Latin American, Africa, and the conflict in Israel/Palestine among others.

Special Opportunities

As an International Relations major, you can:

Present your original research to faculty and fellow students at our annual Political Science & Legal Studies Department Student Research Conference

Represent the department and the university at a national international policy competition

Take classes that take you to the United Nations, Cambodia, Myanmar, or other places all over the world including Suffolk's Madrid Campus

Participate in study trips and/or two-week academic seminars.
