The Master of Science in Mathematical Sciences provides advanced preparation for careers in private industry or government or for doctoral study. Mathematics is critical to most areas of today’s highly technological workforce, and the master’s program is a passport to this exciting and expanding career field.
Program Requirements
The master of science in mathematical sciences includes 12 hours of core courses, 9 hours from area of emphasis (Applied Mathematics or Applied Statistics), 9 hours of elective courses, and 3 Master’s Research Project hours or 6 alternate elective hours. Thus, in total the program requires 33 semester credit hours with a Master’s Research Project of 36 semester credit hours without the project. The program also requires written comprehensive exams over the core courses, a portfolio, and an oral final examination.
