专业概况

The M.S. in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling is a 60-unit CORE accredited program that aims to prepare professionals who are culturally competent, and able to provide rehabilitation and mental health counseling to individuals with disabilities in an ethical manner while adhering to the Code of Professional Ethics and Scope of Practice for the profession. Students have the ability to pursue certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and National Certified Counselor, as well as undergo requirements that position them for the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor credential. The program has earned top rankings in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, and is a national leader in hands-on, real world rehabilitation in California and beyond.

Program Requirements

Under the direction of the graduate adviser, each student prepares and submits an individually designed program within the following framework:

Core requirements (48 units) REHAB 201, 204, 211, 237, 238, 239, 265, 268A or B or C or D; COUN 201, 203, 206, 220, 232, 280T (Advanced Counseling Theories)

Courses in supporting curriculum (9 units) Research methods: ERE 220 (3 units) Individual and group counseling skills: COUN 200, 202 (6 units)

Culminating Experience Choose between (a) the comprehensive exam plus 3 units of electives approved by adviser, (b) REHAB 298 Project [3 units] , or (c) REHAB 299 Thesis [3 units].
