Dietetics is the field of public health concerned with diet and its effects on health, especially with the practical application of a scientific understanding of nutrition. The major at IUB is a didactic program which prepares students to apply for the 1,200-hour internship and pass the board examination necessary to become a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist (RDN).

Many courses in this major are offered only in Fall or Spring semesters and have one or more pre-requisite courses, so planning and sequencing of these courses is very prescriptive, so meet frequently with your academic advisor to ensure you are on track for timely graduation. Failure to follow the correct sequence of courses may result in delayed graduation time.
