Take a deep dive into the historical, political and cultural underpinnings of Latino communities in the U.S. and in the western hemisphere. Explore unique family, business and political components of this significant population.

Program Description

The BA in social and cultural analysis with a concentration in Latin American studies provides a broad and vibrant framework for studying the diverse societies of Latin America, including diasporic communities, and it presents rich opportunities for cross-cultural study. The program is designed to provide a transdisciplinary approach to the literature, film, history, politics and culture of both Latin America and Latinas and Latinos living in the United States.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this program are prepared with the skills and knowledge necessary for graduate work as well as for careers in public service, education, business, humanitarian work, law or health care.

Due to the emphasis on culture and identity, students develop respect for and sensitivity to diverse populations, enabling them as graduates to flourish in areas as varied as:
