专业概况
在这里学什么?Electrical engineering technologists design, develop and build electrical and electronic devices, systems and processes. They work in six primary areas: computers and computer networks; analog and digital electronics; communications; power generation, transmission and distribution; controls; and instrumentation.
Their contributions can be seen in our daily lives through devices such as lighting, heating and air conditioning systems; home appliances including electric ranges, vacuum cleaners, washers and dryers; - and entertainment systems including TVs, stereos, digital video disc players, camcorders, compact disc and computers. They work with cutting-edge technologies and have helped in the implementation, development and improvement of electrification; electronics; radio, TV; telephone, cellular phones, laser and optical fiber communications; computers, computer networks and the Internet; robotics and automation; and medical and imaging technologies.
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum offers a 50/50 combination of theoretical and laboratory course work. It emphasizes the application of mathematics, science and engineering principles to implementation, development and improvement of current technology. The program is most suitable for students who prefer applications and hands-on laboratory experience over theory. The degree is offered through the Gildart Haase School of Computer Sciences and Engineering, located within University College: Arts · Sciences · Professional Studies on the Metropolitan Campus. Our curriculum is also designed to help the students develop professional ethics and a concern for societal and global problems and the skills required to solve them.
Career Opportunities:
Electrical engineering technology is the largest engineering technology discipline. Employment opportunities for electrical engineering technologists are enormous since practically all industries employ them. Electrical engineering technologists find employment in such areas as computer systems and networks, electronics, telecommunications, power generation and distribution, controls, instrumentation and automation. Their job functions include design, testing, installation, development, sales and field services. The job market for electrical engineering technologists has been excellent since electrical engineering technology is one of the hottest technology fields. Professional positions of the graduates include those of president, vice president, systems programmer, field project manager, technical director, network development manager, systems engineer, video engineer, digital design engineer and senior systems engineer.
