Azusa Pacific University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Screenwriting is designed for students who are passionate about storytelling, preparing them to write for mainstream Hollywood films and television series. After learning the basics of production, screenwriting majors dive into an intensive sequence of courses including everything from Aristotelian principles of story to the structural elements found in the hero’s journey and Snyder’s beats.

Later, students have the opportunity to create a culminating work that integrates their learning in a capstone project. Such projects could include creating a screenplay or teleplay, developing an entertainment business plan, producing an animated short, or writing a major research paper.

Program Highlights

• Take seven distinct screenwriting courses in addition to cinema core courses
• Develop enhanced knowledge of both entrepreneurial and business perspectives
• Write and pitch original screenplays or pilots as student films produced by APU’s nationally recognized, award-winning production teams

With a campus located within driving distance of downtown Hollywood, internship and career possibilities are endless. Through internships, students gain relevant, hands-on experience in various fields related to their interests and goals.

To enhance their career opportunities, students must complete a 3-unit internship or capstone project prior to graduation. Career-minded students are encouraged to look for internships that may parlay them into full-time employment upon graduation.

为来自中国的学生设计 Students currently enrolled in high school or who have earned fewer than 28 units of college credit following high school graduation. International students should have obtained a TOEFL iBT sore 80 including scores of 22 in speaking, 22 in listening, 22 in reading, and 22 in writing and IELTS score 6.0.
