专业概况

在这里学什么？

The Master of Education in School Counseling program prepares multicultural competent, professional school counselors. Program graduates will demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, identity and scholarship for a successful school counseling career. Graduates will apply the competencies acquired in the program to the diverse, multicultural populations they serve.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

A variety of career opportunities are available upon graduation and state certification in education, non-profit, private, state and federal sectors. These opportunities may include elementary, middle and high school counselor positions; at-risk specialty counseling positions, compensatory, special education and other school district identified areas of need; and guidance and counseling coordinator or director positions (with advanced supervision/administration training).

PROGRAM OPTIONS

The 48-semester credit hour program offers advanced study and professional development in the field of school counseling. Once admitted to the program, students must also complete a separate state application to the School Counselor Certification Program. To receive state certification as a professional school counselor, students must: Complete the master's degree program, pass the required School Counselor Certification Exam, AND complete two years of teaching experience before certification is conferred.

为来自中国的学生设计 Earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited xadcollege or university in the United States or have proof of equivalent training at a foreign institution. A minimum grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) from an awarded master's or bachelor's degree may be admitted with no conditions. TOEFL Internet 79, TOEFL Paper 60, IELTS 6.5.
