专业概况

在这里学什么？ BEng in Power Engineering (Transmission and Distribution) is distinctive in that it teaches the operating theory of various systems and equipment that form part of a power system with emphasis on transmission and distribution. This course combines the traditional subjects of electrical engineering with the more recent advances in power electronics and computer control and how these are used in maintaining a high degree of reliability and security of modern power networks which are heavily reliant on technological advances in the area of power transmission and distribution. This course provides insight and prepares the graduates to meet the challenges associated with the Transmission and Distribution of power. The course offers common modules at level 4 setting the background for general Electrical and Electronic principles in addition to Power Engineering principles associated with power generation, transmission and distribution. The level-5 modules, further underpin the mathematical and analytical skills required to build knowledge of power engineering modules at level-6, including industry specific module on Systems Operation and SCADA at L5. Levels 6 offers advanced topics in Energy Converters and Drives, the Environmental considerations that must be taken into account when infrastructure improvements are planned within Power, Rail and other Safety-critical industries. This course provides insight into these and prepares the graduate to meet the challenges of advanced power engineering systems to some extent. The course has a strong component of regulatory aspects relevant to the power industry, which is important to understand how a large power network can be operated securely and reliably while complying with relevant regulations.The overall aim of this course is to produce Engineers who hold a qualification that meets the educational requirements of the relevant Professional Engineering Institution for registration at the appropriate level: BEng for full Incorporated Engineer. The BEng course fully satisfies the academic requirements for membership of the Institution of Engineering and Technology registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partially satisfies the requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

为来自中国的学生设计 To apply for an undergraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following: Senior High School Graduation Certificate with a minimum of 70-80% (course specific requirements may apply); Chinese University / College Entrance Examination ('Gaokao') with a minimum of 350-400 in relevant subjects; Vocational College Diploma ('Gaozhi') diploma with average marks of 70% minimum; suitable UK Foundation course with a minimum of 60%; minimum English language requirements are as follows: IELTS 6.0 with all skills at 5.5 or above.
