专业概况

The Medical Education program provides a comprehensive, innovative curriculum designed specifically for physicians and other health care professionals. Students can either earn a master’s degree or receive certificate-level training in the delivery of innovative, evidence-based education, educational scholarship, and educational technologies. The executive-format program offers brief, on-site intensives paired with flexible, distance learning.

The Med Ed program prepares participants to be:

Teachers of teachers

Graduates will leave the program with an understanding of how adults learn, how to develop effective and efficient educational experiences in medical education, and how to teach others to do the same. Graduates will be prepared to take on the myriad of challenges facing medical educators, including assessment, curricular design and integration of educational technologies into all types of learning experiences.

Educational scholars

Students will be prepared to meet the growing need for research and innovation in medical education. In the medical realm, there is a need to not only incorporate novel educational programming but also to measure and share what can be learned from these new programs. Rising educational leaders will develop the skills required to evaluate programs and add to the growing body of literature in this area.

Leaders

Graduates will be equipped to influence and inspire others to learn. Physicians and other healthcare providers increasingly find themselves in charge of large programs and people. Our graduates will develop the leadership competencies needed to plan, implement, and maintain successful, sustainable programs. The Med Ed program emphasizes leadership skill development and provides useful tools that are highly relevant to medical education.

In addition to recognizing the unique aspects of the medical education environment, the Med Ed program acknowledges that healthcare professionals have significant demands on their time. Therefore, the Med Ed program offers course work in an executive format. The blended on-site and distance learning curriculum allows participants to continue their full-time professional obligations while completing the degree over the course of less than two years.
