Information systems are at the center of enterprises, big and small. As more and more big data companies rely on the global supply chain, the demand for skilled professionals with Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) knowledge is growing fast.

Become a systems thinker, problem solver and innovator in the world of big data and global supply chain management. At Suffolk, you’ll meet internationally diverse faculty with expertise in managing business systems and informational, operational, and technological systems that support enterprises.

They’ll help you build highly marketable skills that are important to all organizations. You’ll learn how to:

Manage information lifecycles and business processes

Conduct business analytics for informed decision-making

Improve operations and supply chains

Create innovative technology solutions

In your Project Management course, you’ll learn how to plan and manage projects, a skill important to all successful managers. You can also be certified by SAP, the company that offers the most popular enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Undergraduates can test their skills with internships at major businesses, such as American Express, Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Fidelity, Hill Holidays, MA State Government, and State Street Bank.

Learning Objectives

Analyze and determine the quality of a database.

Analyze, interpret and evaluate entity relationship diagrams.

Analyze, interpret and evaluate a business process solution.

Describe the organizational value of an information systems and its development process.

Describe the systems analysis and design process.

Describe the flow of information in a business process.

Use appropriate techniques (i.e. activity diagrams) to describe a business process for use in systems implementation.

Describe the systems life cycle and identify the tasks within each phase.
