专业概况

The Communication Program offers a solid foundation in communication theory and practice, including organizational communication, communication theory and courses in media studies, popular culture, television news and media ethics.

The university’s mission statement declares that “Fairleigh Dickinson University is a center of academic excellence dedicated to the preparation of world citizens through global education.” In keeping with that goal, the Communication Program offers courses in intercultural communication and international news that site our program firmly within a global context.

Professional internships are an integral part of the Communications Program. The Metro campus is just nine miles from Manhattan, and this proximity to the world’s media capital gives Fairleigh Dickinson University communication majors a competitive edge in obtaining top-flight internships at network and cable television stations, radio stations, and public relations and advertising agencies.

The B.A. in communications requires 120 credits. The major requires 39 credits in four required major courses, one three-credit course from each of the four theme groups, and twelve credits of communication elective courses. The four required courses are:

• Digital Storytelling
• Professional Communication
• Investigating Communication: Research Methods
• Senior Communication Seminar
