在这里学什么?Risk management and insurance is a central part of any organization’s strategic management. It is the methodical process used to address the risks to their activities with the goal of achieving sustained benefit. Risk managers and insurance professionals help identify, evaluate and manage key risks, including natural disasters and man-made catastrophes. The globalization of economic enterprise and the complexities of our multinational corporate environment are creating an increasing demand for highly skilled risk managers.
In this 124-credit degree program we teach students the skills necessary to master the financial, legal and economic theories at the heart of corporate risk management. This includes understanding such concepts and tools as risk analysis and transfer/financing. Emphasis is also placed on developing outstanding communications skills, necessary for achieving success in today’s competitive business environment. Students with strong problem-solving and communications skills gain the critical thinking needed to make key decisions under fluctuating circumstances.
This multifaceted, professional degree program is fully accredited by the prestigious the AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Leveraging St. John's metropolitan location, students have access to the University's longstanding relationships with leading New York-area financial and insurance organizations as well as to mentoring support from local alumni – who are leading professionals in the field of risk management. We also offer apprenticeship and apprenticeship opportunities, scholarships, job placement services, and student discounts for exam preparation courses offered by the Center for Professional Education.
The Quantitative Risk and Insurance (QRI) track, in the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) major, combines the fundamental educational elements of both the traditional Risk Management and Insurance major and the Actuarial Science (ACT) major. Upon completing the program, students will have acquired basic quantitative analysis skills and gained knowledge in the field of risk management and insurance.

The QRI track is housed in the School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science of the Tobin College of Business. Students who complete the program will have obtained introductory knowledge of all core business subjects, including accounting, economics and finance, management, marketing and risk management. Importantly, they will have obtained quantitative analysis skills that will add in making business decisions. With this interdisciplinary set of tools and techniques, graduates are able to describe, predict and recommend business actions that encompass consumer, provider, and distributor behavior, and provide employers with insight for decisions related to managing risks, improving outcomes and driving value for customers.
