Do you enjoy getting lost in a library with an English classic hanging just inches away from your nose? Or perhaps writing comes naturally to you and you view a blank page like it’s an open playground. If this describes you, then you might enjoy exploring classical literature and strengthening your wordcraft by studying English.

UTSA’s English Program

At UTSA, you can earn an English degree with an optional concentration in either Professional Writing, Creative Writing, or English Language Arts and Reading. Concentrations are declared after you’ve been admitted and have met with your academic advisor. In this program, you’ll take liberal arts and humanities courses to cover a broad range of topics like American and British literature, linguistics, rhetoric, writing, cross-cultural ethnic studies, gender studies and more. A degree in English will prepare you for careers as a writer, editor, high school teacher, public relations specialist, or serve as a stepping stone to further your education in graduate school.
