专业概况
在这里学什么?Every day, we are bombarded with countless food choices and what we eat has a significant impact on our health. Changes in our diet can help prevent or control many health issues like obesity, diabetes and can also limit the risk for cancer and heart disease. If you’re interested in studying nutrition and creating healthful diets to improve the well-being of others, then you should look into studying Nutrition and Dietetics.
UTSA’s Nutrition and Dietetics Program
UTSA’s Nutrition and Dietetics degree serves as the foundation for the Master of Dietetics Studies (M.D.S.) and is the first step to becoming a registered dietitian. As you work toward earning your B.S., you’ll attend classes and acquire off-site practicum hours consisting of community dietetics, clinical dietetics, and food service management. In this unique program, you’ll earn a joint degree in both the B.S. and M.D.S., which will certify you to take the national exam to become a registered dietitian.
As a dietitian, you’ll determine the appropriate nutrition interventions for all stages of the life cycle. You’ll find employment in a number of healthcare facilities like hospitals, wellness and fitness centers and food service operations. Your career may include offering 1:1 counseling, group education, and nutritional assessments to promote health using medical nutrition therapy. You can also work in a teaching capacity in culinary schools and colleges, or conduct research for food and pharmaceutical organizations.
