专业概况

在这里学什么？ This is a unique and innovative multifaceted programme designed for students wishing to pursue careers in laboratory-based biomedical research, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, or in Science policy, and regulatory professional bodies, as well as for students wishing to study medicine after graduation. The course is designed to equip the students with the skills required for these career pathways. The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science is mapped to the accreditation requirements of the IBMS.Optional modules include, but are not limited to, Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Law, Drug design and Development and Intellectual property rights. Together with the wide range of theoretical and practical knowledge of human health and disease these optional modules will pave the way for students to faster employability. According to PROSPECTS that derived information from Higher Education Statistics Agency (Feb 2018), more than 50% of biomedical science graduates were employed in the UK within 6 months of graduation, while most of the remaining chose to study further. Thus, this degree opens wide options and the students with an accredited degree have a promising career.The programme is designed to offer students the opportunity to develop technical skills linked directly to relevant placements and real-world experiences. This approach will be further reinforced by an opportunity to spend a “sandwich year” in an industrial/NHS laboratory or governmental organization placement, thus improving future job prospects for the students. Key features of this course are its interdisciplinary nature, and its research-based teaching. Additionally, LSBU committed significant financial investment to establish a biomedical research lab equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for high-throughput drug screening and high content imaging used in biomedical and pharmaceutical research.

为来自中国的学生设计 To apply for an undergraduate course at LSBU you need to have one of the following: Senior High School Graduation Certificate with a minimum of 70-80% (course specific requirements may apply); Chinese University / College Entrance Examination ('Gaokao') with a minimum of 350-400 in relevant subjects; Vocational College Diploma ('Gaozhi') diploma with average marks of 70% minimum; suitable UK Foundation course with a minimum of 60%; minimum English language requirements are as follows: IELTS 6.0 with all skills at 5.5 or above.
