在这里学什么？ **Optional year in industry**: The year in industry option will help you gain valuable work experience which will help you enhance your graduate employability prospects. During your placement you develop transferable skills such as communication, negotiation, teamwork, leadership, organisation, problem-solving, being able to work under pressure, self-reliance and commercial awareness. At the end of your work placement you return to complete your degree and prepare to enter employment with improved confidence.Our work placement officer and the University’s careers service are available to help you find and apply for your work placement. Advice is also available on job hunting and networking.**Course overview**: This degree includes an integrated foundation year if you do not have the appropriate subjects and/or grades for year one entry. The foundation year helps you develop your knowledge in mathematics and other important subjects to enable you to proceed confidently through the remainder of the programme. The course provides the knowledge and skills required to enter industries such as aerospace, robotics, automotive, manufacturing, medical, marine, rail, renewable energy, oil and gas, power and process. The University has exceptional links with local engineering companies allowing you to enhance your experience and employability through placements and professional mentoring schemes. You are taught by experienced staff who have a wealth of experience and industry expertise - many continue to support external organisations on collaborative research or innovative enterprising projects. You cover technical subject areas as well as developing management, leadership and entrepreneurship skills. You also complete practical activities including group-work and individual projects.**After the course**: Graduate mechanical engineers can seek employment in almost every sector of industry, including: automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, marine, medical, rail, power, processing, chemical, oil and gas, and food production industries. Some examples of mechanical engineering graduates' first destinations are Cummins (design engineer), K Home International Ltd (piping design engineer), Rolls Royce (graduate engineer) and Ardmore Craig & Hiley Engineering (placement).

为来自中国的学生设计 For entry onto a Foundation or Extended programme, applicants require: Huikao (Chinese senior secondary school graduation certificate) Successful completion of the first two years of Senior Secondary School with a minimum average of 70% or successful completion of Senior Secondary School with a minimum average of 60%; For entry onto an Undergraduate programme, applicants require: For entry onto Year 1: Huikao (Chinese senior secondary school graduation certificate) Successful completion of Senior Secondary School with a minimum average of 80% Or Gaokao (Chinese university or college entrance exam) with a minimum score of 500; For entry onto Higher National Diploma: Gaokao with a minimum score of 450; For entry onto Integrated Master of Engineering – MEng (Hons): Gaokao with a minimum score of 550; For entry onto Undergraduate top-up programmes (third-year entry); Dazhuan (three-year college graduation diploma) with a minimum of 70% average or, SQA Higher National Diploma with BBC as minimum or, Edexcel Higher National Diploma – standard UK entry requirements or, UK accredited foundation degree.
