专业概况
在这里学什么?As a student, you’ve probably had a few light bulb moments—those times when you finally understand something that you’ve spent an afternoon trying to learn. Occasionally, these breakthroughs were reached with the help of an amazing teacher. If you’re interested in kindling those moments with students, just like a teacher may have once done with you, then you may wish to consider a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
UTSA’s Interdisciplinary Studies Program
Throughout this program, you’ll explore how different disciplines approach inquiry, examine multiple styles of learning, and incorporate cultural diversity into your teaching. The knowledge and skills you’ll pick up will enable you to become an effective educator and work with diverse learners across a variety of settings.
UTSA is approved by the State Board for Educator Certification to recommend students for teaching certification in various baccalaureate degree areas. You can earn an Interdisciplinary Studies degree with any of the following certification concentrations:
Early Childhood–Grade 6 Core Subjects Grades 4–8 Core Subjects Grades 4–8 Language Arts/Reading/Social Studies Grades 4–8 Mathematics/Science Early Childhood–12 Special Education
These concentrations are declared after you’ve been admitted and have met with your academic advisor. Bilingual Early Childhood–6 and 4–8 are also offered to Interdisciplinary Studies majors through the Department of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies.
At UTSA, students who wish to become an elementary school teacher should major in Interdisciplinary Studies. Students who want to teach in middle school or high school will need a bachelor’s degree in their academic specialization.
