专业概况

The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program is a graduate level Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program that aims to educate students in value creation through the study of data. This is accomplished using statistical and operations analysis, the formation of predictive and prescriptive models, and the communication of these results to stakeholders for improved decision making.

Graduates of this program will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to create business analytics use cases, execute the necessary analyses, and manage the business analytic lifecycle from analysis to implementation. Graduates will gain key knowledge of analytical functions in marketing, operations, accounting, finance, and innovation. Graduates should be able to develop executive reports, make presentations, and bridge the communication gap between data scientists and less technically-savvy business practitioners who want to solve business problems.

The MSBA complements our existing graduate programs, such as the MBA, MSF, MSA, MSM or MHA by enhancing students' capability in applying business analytics technology and methodology in their respective fields. The MSBA program may also serve as a career changer for BS graduates from science, mathematics, and engineering majors who seek to extend and apply their quantitative and analytical abilities in business analytics.

STEM Classification

The MSBA is a graduate degree program with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) designation. Due to the demand of graduates with expertise in STEM fields, the Department of Homeland Security permits international students graduating from STEM programs to apply for a 24 month extension of their initial year of Optional Practical Training (OPT).
