In the last century, there has been an abundance of influential social changes that have led to drastic changes in our society. These developments include the explosion of industry and urban communities, the rapid evolution of technology, accessible education, and the expansion of civil rights. If you’re interested in the various and changing roles within our society, and knowing how to interpret and predict them, then you may wish to major in Sociology.

UTSA’s Sociology Program

UTSA’s Sociology degree offers a rigorous program of study that will have you exploring social institutions, cultural dynamics and the processes of social interaction. The program offers a diverse set of electives that cover topics and interests that will introduce you to the dynamics of social life. These electives include studies on social inequality, the Latino/a experience, healthcare inequalities, and the role of religion and culture in shaping human societies. Upon graduation, you’ll be able to seek employment in a diverse private sector, nonprofit and government settings or pursue a graduate education.
